Contribuiți la feedbackI have been contemplating writing this review, however I feel it is necessary to add a review with my overall experience at this pub. I booked this venue to hold my fathers wake a few weeks ago. I was recommended by family and had several conversations with Shelly the owner which were pleasant and nice. Shelly greeted us on arrival with a warm welcome and apologised for our loss. We have a child in the group who has a severe nut allergy and Shelly dealt with this amazingly, she adapted the menu and cleaned all the pub to ensure no traces of peanuts, this was lovely. Unfortunately that’s where the good experience ended. My overall involvement with the landlord was horrible, he was rude and shouted at us that he’d had enough of us and then hid upstairs. (Once we had paid the bill) This was upsetting to be spoken to in this way. Yes we were drinking and yes we may have been a little loud sometimes but we were not rude, rowdy or unpleasant. We had just attended my fathers funeral we were celebrating his life. No empathy from him and such an unpleasant experience especially with the circumstances. Shelly was very apologetic regarding his behaviour however he would not apologise for his rude and aggressive manner. Due to this reason unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend or visit this pub again. This is such a shame as all the other bar staff were lovely, empathic and helpful.
I give this pub 5 stars! I hosted my father's reception there after his funeral, and it was fantastic. The buffet was amazing with tea and coffee. Shelly greeted us upon arrival and all of our guests mentioned how great everything was. Thank you for making this day so special and memorable.
Over the past year or so, the number of patrons visiting this restaurant has decreased, which is unfortunate because it has always had a pleasant ambiance. I have not dined here before, so I cannot speak to the food quality. One aspect that dissuades me from returning is the music. It plays a continuous loop of sad country and western songs, which can be off-putting. Recently, my group considered staying for another drink but decided to leave due to the dreary music.
This local village pub offers everything you could want - delicious, no-fuss food, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. The live music is also fantastic.
Emma and Jas (Jazz? , are extremely friendly and welcoming. As a solo drinker I instantly felt at ease. Friendly, bubbly and stimulating conversation. I'm sure I bored the pants off them, but they never showed it If this level of customer service is available on prescription, I defintely want a repeat. The Artichoke and it's team embody everything a local community village pub should be you will not be disappointed! Head, shoulders and a country me ahead of other local offerings. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Thank you for making me feel welcome and at ease. You are both amazing people in so many ways. Can't wait to same Sunday Lunch, Open Mic, and the Artichoke Festival. Village Country Pub hospitality at its very finest. Enjoy Well done Team Artichoke, keep the great work up!
