Sri Guru Kottureshwara Butter Dosa

Relished the flavour of Davangere butter dosa here. It was really tasty and enjoyed the wood cooked dosa. The outlet was bit busy and there was a long queue. We had to wait for some time to get the table. As the dosa arrived at our table, it was finished in minutes.

We stopped here for breakfast, while driving down from Hubli to Bangalore. Though, we had to take a detour from the highway, but it was worth it. They serve only two types of Dosa, a crispy one and the other neer dosa type, a soft one. The crispy one are served two in a plate where as the sift ones are three in a plate. Aloo sabjee is given separately which is bland. But the chutney served is spicy and hot. Both types of dosa are priced at Rs 60 a plate. Must say, one of the best dosas . They have another shop where you get good filter coffee. A cup, a small one only for Rs 15.

Davanagere Butter Dose has always had a following of it’s own. These butter dose’s are very famous and many eat this on a daily basis. We went to the origins of this dose in Davanagere, Karnataka. The place is quite small and sometimes the waiting time is a lot but when you do get your seat, it is time for some madness. We had the following while we were at Sri Guru Kottureshwara Butter Dose. The Butter Dose has two dose’s in one plate. The chutney is super spicy and the aloo mix is so sweet and has no masala, thus balancing it out in the perfect manner. The Dose is crispy on the edges and soft on the inside, the butter is very evident as well. The other option you get here is the Khali Dose. This is similar to the lines of Set Dose that you get in many places, you are provided with three fluffy and soft dose, with chutney and some aloo palia as well. It is totally worth the money. Sri Guru Kottureshwara Butter Dose maybe a congested tiny little place, but it sure is worth everything. Parking for four wheelers may not be easily available but parking a few blocks away is worth the walk. The service is great and the staff are super friendly. A simple local corner restaurant serving some delicious authentic benne dosas. Crispy, spicy and thoroughly enjoyable. We stopped here for lunch on our way to Goa from Bangalore.

Really good benne dosa. I thought this place is all hype like CTR or Vidyarthi Bhavan. But I was wrong, this is actually really good benne dosa. Worth the visit. We belted 20 dosa in one sitting. Trick is to have a plain dosa and then enjoy the benne dosa so you know the difference in taste. Price is good but seating is a bit of a Hassel during lunch hour.
