And that is exactly why Michelin has awarded the restaurant with a star. We had...a 7-course dinner and each course was a delight and a wounderful combination of tastes and presented masterfully:, I have attached pictures of some of the courses so that you can see them for yourselves. I really enjoyed my starter, which was a parfait of foie gras very tastefully combined with passion fruit and chocolate. Not an obvious combination but a very succesful one. But also the halibut and the beef filet were close to perfection. The restaurant has a very romantic, traditional setting and you feel like the Kurfürst yourself. If it was a bit closer (than about 360 km) from our home, we would be very regular guests, and I am a bit jealous of the people living in the Eifel.
The restaurant is located in a hotel on a high-walled location in the center of daun, in the middle of the so-called vulcans eifel. parking is possible in the immediate vicinity. the restaurant radiates centuries old size and tradition. apart from eating a la carte. you can choose from menus, starting with 3 curses. you can also choose accompanying weinpacks weinreise: the list has delicious and surprising German weine try it! the quality of the food is excellent, what one can expect from a restaurant with 1 Michelin stars. the personal is friendly and professional.
A three-course menu at the first day of our stay and a five-course menu at the second day were part of our booked package. excellent eating and wine, very efficient and friendly service and to be a beautiful place. we're coming back. in 2 months.
Excellent culinary experience. there is a menu where you can choose 3 to 7 courses with either local game or fish. with accompanying crying. excellent eating with beautiful presentation. the place is more expensive, but every penny worth. old castle like apartment. very clean and. good service. toilets clean and spott. can absolutely recommend!
I was on a work trip in the hotel for a few days and the whole place could be characterized as friendly but a bit eccentric. the food was very good, but we just had a simple 3-course every night and it wasn't... really in the same league as other 1 star restaurants I had. I also miss all the beautiful little surprises that a top notch menu just a bit more special. Yes, we have a funny ass, but that was about extras. the service was certainly not on the right level. For example, when dinner at the first night, the waiter opened a bottle of wine and gave it straight into our glasses without tasting it to everyone. I also had to stand up from the table to bring our water bottle to the refill glasses, as there were no waiting staff to see that. the compensation is that the whole stay is very good for what we got and I guess that because we were there the week in a quiet season, we did not get the full treatment. I was glad that I was there for work and not pay with my own money, though, I think if I was there for a special weekend, expecting a michelin star experience, I would have been very disappointed.
