Contribuiți la feedbackVisited the Joe's take out section recently to get some of their famous Key Lime Pie. Amazing as always! Great option to get take out for a special occasion, plenty of dessert options, wine, claws even beautiful orchids.
We went to the beach before this and fortunately found parking in one of the lots, but it was hard finding one on Sunday. We saw that it was business casual attire so quickly changed into something more fancy only to come and see people in shorts and very casual wear. Well, now we know. I got the guayabita to drink, and it was strong on the alcohol but I thought it could have had more flavoring from the guava. Girlfriend got the strawberry lemonade and thought it was too sweet and not tart enough. The complimentary bread basket came with 5 kinds of bread and Cracker, and you can always ask for more. We got the sea scallops casserole and the crab claw appetizer. They both came out escargot style (6 pieces each , and we thought we may have overdone it on getting both rich dishes. But the scallops dish was actually not very rich it was a nice cream sauce and the scallops were tender. Not much of the other things that were supposed to be in the casserole though (crab meat, artichoke etc. . The crab claw was more standard in terms of the garlic sauce but very good. We finished the bread dipping into the sauce. Key lime pie was clearly frozen before which added to a stiff crust and slightly grainy filling. It wasn't super tart and the flavors were solid though. Girlfriend thought cream had an artificial sugar taste to it but I thought it was fine. I'd come by again for the stone crabs but not a priority in my opinion. I liked the key lime pie at Kush much more.
Joes stone crab is a Miami Beach institution that has been around for about 100 years, as our waiter was sure to tell us about it. Joe's is on just about every blog post and must visit list about Miami Beach. As such, i figured it would just about be a tourist trap. I was skeptical to say the least, especially when the menu reads that fresh stone crab isn't available after May. Reservations are highly recommended but it didnt get extremely busy at any point of our visit. All in all, the service was very good. It is comparable to the experience you get at a steakhouse, white table cloths and charming waiters. For appetizers, we started with the stone crab bisque and the clam chowder. The clam chowder was good but a little thin (we are a bit is away from New England i guess). The lobster bisque had decent sized chunks of lobster in it too. We ordered the stone crab out of season in June. We ordered the jumbo stone crab which came with 4 claws. The stone crab was served cold with a mustard sauce. I'd prefer to have my stone crab served warm and with the rest of the crab attached .We also ordered a seafood boil which was much smaller than i expected it to be. For sides, we got the hashed brown potatoes which were honestly the highlight of the show creamy, buttery, and crispy on top. The key lime pie is also a must. It went real with our meal, it was perfectly creamy but light and citrusy. The key lime pie is a must have! Overall, Joe's it's a prestigious institution in Miami Beach. The service and prices definitely reflect that. The food at Joe's was just alright. I've had better seafood elsewhere and I'd rather spend the money at an actual steakhouse where the food is served hot (not chilled). However, if you do come based on the Joe's stone crab hype, I'd recommend getting the smaller stone crab option (just to try for the name sake because large was not worth the extra price), the key lime pie, and the hash brown potatoes.
In my top 5 of best dining experiences ever. An amazing operation, from service to amazing food. We had to try everything, the Bread Basket , Crab Bisque, Lobster Mac, Crab Claws, Brussels sprouts, mahi-mahi, paella, and of course the key lime pie. The service was spot on, super professional, and our server Nick was on point. We will request him again if possible. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Joes is a mandatory stop for anyone in sobe. Could not have picked a better place to finish our honeymoon.
From the moment you step into the doors it's absolutely beautiful! We had just eaten so we just sat at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly. The bar menu is completely made for the bar, so a lot of items you would need to go inside the full restaurant to get. However the bar menu was nice. I decided on the Key Lime Pie as that's my favorite pie EVER! They did not come to play!!! 20/20 it was so good, I was full and still ate it all!!! Fat A I would buy the whole pie!! Will return for full menu experience and of course the pie! Lol
