The Dark Side Cafe - Dartmouth

We went here for brunch. They were sold out of most of the food and so we had egg and ham english muffin with a juice. Very Limited in food choices, I would eat before I go here. I won't be back because it was such a weird experience the first time with little for us to come back for.

Nice little shop in an out of the way area. Found it on a walk while staying at the Holiday Inn. I ordered a double shot Latte which was quite nice. Also purchased some Nova Scotia oat cookies. If I lived in this area it would be my go to coffee shop! Some cool sounding food options here also.

Free wifi, good coffee / tea drinks, personable owner, also selling artwork. This is not the nicest of areas, but he's done a decent job of setting up a good shop. However, he'll curse and swear freely in his conversations with patrons. The almond croissant was large and full (not flaky), but not great. When paying with credit card, the screen gives you the options of tipping 15% or more or $ amount...I don't think that's necessary at a cafe.

I welcome an opportunity to support small local business. Add friendly service to free trade coffee is a bonus. Only one visit but it's a place I'd return with clients or friends to chat while enjoying a hot beverage or lunch. Food was tasty, fresh made soup and sandwich at a reasonable price. And from other tables it appears the Cafe welcomes internet uses.

It's a cute spot, friendly staff, with different art work on the walls for sale. I'm well aware that that a proper latte takes a bit of time to prepare, however I find the Darkside to be very slow. Popping in for a latte and sandwich to go cost me about $15 and 15 minutes, and I was the only customer at the time. The quality is good, just don't go when you've got somewhere to be.
