Back to the 80s in many ways, but I enjoy the retro feel. Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Grohe Helles
General: For a long time I have been a field researcher for regional cuisine, if I do not land in the Greek, which is actually the hessian cuisine, except “Grie Soß”. My search for places that could awaken consciousness in Southern Hessian Darmstadt quickly showed that I have to return to the rough, a brauereifan with decades of tradition. On my Darmstadt road with the tram from the main railway station to the customer I often passed a collapsing building ensemble, where "grey" stands, for decanting, brewery, beer garden, sale. Last Thursday in August, with slightly cooled temperatures, I found a place at one of two barrel tables opposite the entrance. He was confirmed to me by the service by a first beer and so I had an excellent observation post to observe the quirky driving in rough. The brewhouse was completely booked and only the beer garden can accommodate some guests without reservation if the slightly cool outside temperature does not quench. The audience was above all at the higher age and at some tables in larger groups. The Grohe is a refugee of intestinal towns, which otherwise no longer dominates the street image at the station or at the central Luisenplatz. In addition to me on the other barrel two originals and thus a folk theatre for free. So if you want to immerse yourself in the original beer and delicious cuisine, the rough is recommended, but please with reservation. The homepage [here link] shows the offer of Ausschank and Alte Scheune in the same ensemble with alpine cuisine. In the rough, generally elevated price level of the Frankfurter Raum, it is felt only in moderate form, remembering my return to a Bamberger brewhouse Keesmann. I'll give you 3.5 stars. Service: When I had set my course and gave me a first overview, I had a slight concern that I could sit on lost observation posts in the face of the full and fragile spaces left and right of me. But the four-headed crew is under control. A tap is stainless and without closing the tap at work. An upper wedge and two girls pull everything from the safe and kitchen to the tables. Intensely migrate into small blue-white tips and waiter's aprons. The man is Russian provenance and at least one of the two younger women was collected from the same origin. The Oberkellner looked at me and called “a light” that I nodded in the unexpected state of happiness. And it was pretty fleeting. The second beer should be a March, but there was another light. I took it and had already drowned when the Oberkellner wanted to apologize and replaced it with a March. I pushed March to the next order for which the Oberkellner thanked. The depressed waitress also apologized for the mistake! Well noted to work under maximum load. Food requests were asked and re-insured. After every pleasant waiting period came the entrance and the main food. A friendly and experienced service and taking into account the working situation 3.75 stars in the value of my scale. In the rough, three standard beers Bright, Marchen, Wheat are presented. For light and March you pay for € 0.3 l 2,64 and € 2,76. There was also a handcrafted beer, a red warehouse for €2.50 for the 0.3-l glass. After three times 0.4 I no longer had the right thirst and cannot judge him. From hell and March I liked March with his malty-bitter finish. Water is also available and is 4.80 € for 0.75 l. Yes, even five open wines I discovered on the map, which starts at 3,60 € and ends at 5,00 € for the o,2-l glass. Food: On the homepage there are maps as a collection of downloadable PDF documents; very unpleasant. In the sink a Pfifferlingskarte with five dishes. What's going on after the map of the Hessian cuisine? There are green sauces in the carvings “Das Frankfurt”. Otherwise cheese and cheese as well as various sausages play a great role. In addition, brewhouse classics such as meat cheese, sausage salad, sulphide, ice bones, grillhaxe, ribbing and flame cake. A good selection that brings diversity to Rheinische Brauhäusern. I chose “The Caesige from local dairy”, starting with Odenwälder Handkäse with apple music and peasant bread 7,50 € . There were three typical roller sections of the hand cheese on a large deep plate. Made with a sweet sour vinaigrette with fine onion and apple slices. Add a salad bouquet that was colorful, but culinaryly superfluous. Unfortunately, the cheese had not yet fully matured so that it still had a white middle with the slightly pale consistency. Still delicious with the “music”. Supplemented by five half slices of a fresh rye bread with light caraway aroma. All together with the butter a good bread time for moderate hunger. Then the Scavenger Odenwald with melted cheese. Cheese is a cheese preparation similar to a cheese that is forgotten. Every couple of weeks I like to go to the cooking cheese for a classic evening bread. However, it must have room temperature in order to be able to melt. Here he was given to the Pannenschnitzerei, which had made him liquid, also over the edge of the carving on the plate to the roast potatoes and the herbal salad. Tastefully very strong and a congratulated mountain cheese not below. So a good choice. The roasted potatoes were rather roasted from the cut and without bacon or onions. Better the fine herbal salad with cumin. After the abundant cheese I was well served with the carving for saturation. In itself, the plate was not overloaded. The food was worth 3.5 stars. Ambience: Darmstadt was severely destroyed and the brewery was also down there. The rather small building ensemble, which houses beer, barn and beer garden next to the brewery, is architecturally an object building. Only a wall gives a historical impression. It consists of two rooms. A guest room with a safe from the entrance and a larger room directly from the entrance where you can also smoke when the beer garden is closed. A recent renovation has been carried out carefully and is not recognizable for a first visitor. Wooden floor, bare tables and a dark wall plate give more a brewhouse-typical impression, but en miniature, because the guest room only has the ten tables. There is enough room on the tables, but between them it is quite narrow and traffic with a loaded waiter only possible after dilution. The cassette cover with dark beam optics is also new and should look sound-absorbing. Now that I have read this for my criticism, I notice that despite the many cheerful boobies, I have not recorded anything about a high noise level so that the ceiling probably fulfills its acoustic function. The toilets are located in the basement and are spacious and modern. Cleanliness: Despite the great urge, everything seemed neat to me.

A fantastic beer and a good place. There is a pleasant atmosphere and a pleasant ambience. The food is delicious and very hearty prepared. The staff is always friendly and fast. Good price for drinks, good food. The toilets are very modern and usually clean, which is definitely an advantage over other restaurants.
