Jazz City Diner - Darlinghurst

Needed a southern food fix in OZ and this place helped me out. The beef brisket was very good. The mac-n-cheese was just okay. This is really a hard thing for many southern bbq places to get right. You have to use a lot of different cheeses and buttermilk to get it right. I would come back here for the meat. Friendly service too!

We enjoyed our dinner here, wondering if their clientele is made up of Americans pining for a taste of home, Australians who'd never tried American food, or some of each. The menu covered some American classics (burgers, ribs, shakes) as well as some that are less popular but certainly intriguing (chicken and waffles) but there's definitely something for everyone. You can order everything a la carte, so that you can choose which meats, how much, and how many sides you want. Our table was right in front of the table where the plates were put together, and there was a mirror above so that we could see what the chef (owner?) was putting out. Every meat portion was weighed, so you got exactly what you paid for. Well presented, tasty, and certainly true to American fare, we enjoyed it - and enjoyed looking around at the decor to see what locals thought depicted American diners.

Very friendly service. We arrived right on opening so it wasn't super busy but the food was ready and burgers super quick. Format was a bit strange but food more than made up for it. Brisket and ribs amazing. Hubby loved his burger. True southern American style food. A very delicious dinner.

Worst service I've ever had at a restaurant, the format is ridiculous, they make you line up for half an hour for any of the meats when any other place would have the waitress do that for you, speaking of which, the waitress forgot our order of sides (which you have to order separately) then lied to us about it when she had to take our order a second time, when obviously other people around us who were getting served the same thing before us who hadn't even sat down until after we ordered. This place is purely a hipster novelty and obviously isn't concerned about repeat business. The BBQ meat quality is comparable to ribs
