Eau de vie is a cool, 1920s old, at the back of the kirketon hotel on darlinghurst rd fucked bar. her cocktail menu resembles almost a elaborate picture book, with each side with cocktails of another themas. cocktails with a date to pick is a fun activity, although some hit or miss and the menu is overdue for an update. to my knowledge it has not changed in the last 2 3 years that I have come here. Simple bar food is also offered what I have always found to be pretty good. service is generally very pleasant and attentive, and the team do a good work to get the cocktail 'theater' that comes with certain drinks. this could create the lighting cocktails on the fire before them, or throw dried ice on the floor to create a baptism smoke. my main criticism of eau de vie next to the aging cocktail menu is the live music. last Friday night I was here, a performer took the small stage in the corner of the bar to spend 30 45 minutes to get out 80s and 90s pop songs. unnecessary to say that this did not come to the ambiente of the place of the 1920s, and the music was so loud that my group could hardly hear each other in the living room. we have seriously thought of stepping on this place to another bar. my suggestion as controversial as it sounds would be to be able to live music. I don't think that any kind of mozens come to eau de vie to listen to live music, and it distracts from the otherwise cool mood that the bar goes for itself.

Go through the kirketon hotel, past the baths and find these 1920s inspired cocktail bar, which is thrown away behind an unnoticed door. no care, the game of hiding and looking is well rewarded with the non-shy-at-all eau de vie served unfathomable good cocktails. the 20-side cocktail menu is a little to take. but whatever they choose, ready for an experience – one that can include smoke, flame and some elaborate garnish.
