Contribuiți la feedbackWhat a wonderful dining experience! Impeccable service and food. Thank you so much to the lovely staff who looked after us. Highly recommend.
A rare find! A great tucked away Italian restaurant with very friendly and professional staff incorporating a history of Italian tastes with a unique atmosphere, especially in the cellar out back if your lucky enough to get a table there.
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and service was impeccable. Food was amazing! Felt like I was back in Italy whilst eating. Will be coming back here for sure!
Pushy maitre'd, no atmosphere, stale bread, burnt garlic bread, gluggy spag bol, veal that tasted freezer burnt, and dear as hell. We were one of only two tables this particular night. The food wasn't good. Maybe it's because we recently returned from Milan, and our expectations were high, but this failed to meet expectations. Figs in prosciutto were sloppy. Buffalo mozzarella was too hard, not luscious and gooey. No veges (other than potato or spinach) - It's all a bit bleh, which given previous good experiences and reputation came as a surprise. Why keep pouring 500ml sparkling mineral water, when it's VERY obvious we could've/should've had several 1L bottles. Gouging, silly, constantly interfering. Tried to make us feel guilty when no dessert ordered, but $22 for sorbet doesn't work for me. >$400 for 6, no vino, no dessert, left feeling mildly interfered with. Resurrect the venerable Beppi, or time to close the doors. This can't go on.
I've waited a long time to visit Sydney institution, Beppi's and find myself both agreeing and disagreeing with other Zomatans. The Prawn, Crab & Scallop pasta included fabulously tasty seafood but seemed to lack the saffron cream sauce described on the menu. This was to be an important component of the dish for me, and instead I found a briny, seafood broth. However the fillet mignon was perfect and the potato delightful. The Zabaglione seemed very sweet and dense in texture with little egg yolk flavour. This dessert was quite alcoholic - which is good - but its Marsala was not the best I've tried. Perhaps I had the wrong expectations of this place due to its price point and famous reputation. For some reason the waiter kept demanding my order when I was clearly still considering the menu - I take a detailed interest in food. We were strongly encouraged to order additional courses but not given time to decide what items these might be. I certainly felt discouraged from asking any questions, even if the waiter had still been present at the table. Such was the pressure that when approached by a warmer Sicilian waiter, whose role was to describe the specials, I found myself unable to remember anything he said. He was quite sweet but seemed very sad. I hope he is okay, following the 24 August earthquakes in Amatrice, Accumoli and Arquata del Tronto. We will be thinking of him and wish him all the best. At least the large bread basket of rye, grissini, ciabatta and crisp bread wafer was accompanied by tremendously delicious and generous serves of house prepared hot chilli oil, black olive tapenade and sundrieds. All servings were generous and the additional freebies included perfect dark chocolate squares and shortbread with glace fruit. As I was leaving, we saw a Beppi-esqe staff member who smiled at us.
