Sat outside and we enjoyed the wonderful **** Mary and margarita on a Sunday afternoon! The steamed shrimp appetizer was great! Ahhh, what an afternoon! The afternoon continued on with a top notch Cuban and an excellent grilled bacon cheeseburger. What a wonderful afternoon at the Paladin. For those who have ever eaten in Flint Hill, VA the Bull now resides at the Paladin. Follow the bull!
We've been to Paladin a few times and always enjoyed the experience. This past Sunday, we showed up at opening and I ordered a salad that had pulled chicken. The portions were huge and a few bites in, I got an ugly piece of gristle. OK, it happens. A few bites later, another piece of gristle. So now I'm getting a bit embarrassed at having to pull food out of my mouth while I'm chewing. Another bite or two in and this time, it's a piece of bone. And then another. The server came by and was appropriately concerned when I told her what happened. She offered me another salad or asked if there was anything else I wanted to order. At this point, I just wanted to go home. There was no offer to comp the meal and no manager came over. I'm being kind with the three star review as we do like this place.
My friends wanted to take me out for bingo and dinner. We arrived too late for bingo but Holly was an outstanding waitress! The appetizer of Philly Cheesesteak egg rolls was superb as was my chicken Alfredo? Or so I thought? While very delicious, I couldn 't eat it all so took the rest home. I had a late-night snack and while eating, I choked on a chicken bone! Needless to say, I am not happy about that at all. Thankfully my friend helped me dislodge it as I was choking and could have been dead! No, I doubt I will NOT be coming back. We spent a lot there and tipped her very well only to almost choke to death eating leftovers. I use to work at restaurants and catering and in 30+ years of working, I never once did we have an issue with that kind of situation. This could have been a very serious problem and more careful food preparation could have been avoided. THEIR RESPONSE Yikes, so sorry to hear about that, but glad you are ok, thanks to you friend. The nature of chicken (and fish) is that there are bones, and despite our best efforts, one can slip through, especially in the pulled chicken entrees. We’ll let Holly know of her good service, and hope you will come back soon and try our burgers (no bones). The kitchen has been alerted to be more careful. See you soon. A legitimate restaurant would have comped the check or offered something other than an apology.
Been there twice, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Fun foods, servers with personality, fair prices. Great dining space very roomy.
