Contribuiți la feedbackOn my long evening drive along I-81 through the Shenandoah Valley, I stopped off in Daleville for a dinner break. There were several choices of fast food options and truck stop food. However, I decided to have dinner at CL Asia which is located in the Botetourt Commons plaza anchored by a Kroger), only a couple minutes from I-81 Exit 150B. CL Asia offers mostly Chinese cuisine, plus sushi and hibachi dishes and a lunch buffet. The dining room is casual and clean which has ample tables and booths, a bar, sushi bar, and buffet station along the back wall. This restaurant does not have open hibachi tables. I arrived here around 7:30 PM on a quiet Sunday night, and seated promptly. I was given a small dish of fried noodles duck sauce and ice water. I decided on the Hibachi Chicken $12.95) served with soup, salad, entree, rice and vegetables. The salad was a standard plate of iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing slightly sour taste). The wonton soup had 3 firm wontons with hot chicken broth with scallions. The main entree was a generous portion of boneless chicken chunks in a hibachi sauce served with fried rice and fresh vegetables broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms). The chicken chunks were cooked firm and tender. The fried rice was cooked very soft with traces of egg. This hibachi chicken dinner falls into the middle of the pack, compared to the many other hibachi places I've dined at. A fortune cookie with fresh orange wedges accompanied the check. Overall, dinner was good and very filling and much needed since I still had another 100 miles of driving left to go before calling it night.
Overall the food is very good. I admit I'm a bit of a sushi snob. Therefore, not my favorite place for sushi but the kitchen meals are very good! I'd not bother driving into Roanoke for good Asian cuisine, when you can get it right here locally.
The people here were very nice, and the place a cute but that's about it. I really love sushi and eat it all the time, but was not impressed. Stopped here while traveling and looking for an alternated to eating at a fast food chain. I don't thing they get a lot of turn over on the sushi, because we tried 3 rolls and the temperature of the fish on some was so cold. The seaweed salad was similar, super cold almost on its way to frozen. The steamed pork dumpling were pretty good. Also it looked like they had a decent buffet, which we probably should have tried.
We got there at 9 pm the hours stated that they were open until 10 pm. As soon as we walked in it was strongly suggested that we get our meal to go. We sat in the parking lot and ate in our car they shut down at 9:30 pm. I ordered bird paradise and did not get what I ordered. The shrimp in the dish clearly had been breaded and then stripped of the breading and put in my dish. The bird nest that it was supposed to be served in was not with the meal. Over all it just tastes like crappy old Chinese restaurant in the middle of a strip mall food. :
The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. I like my food spicy and they always accommendate some hot chili peppers in my meal, very decent restaurant, I'm a local for their lunch.
