Banana Leaf - Dacorum

I’ve used this takeaway often over the past 5 years but I won’t be using it any longer as it’s gone downhill fast and the quality and service is extremely poor !!

We chose Banana Leaf because we were looking for a sit-down Chinese restaurant, as most places only offer takeaway. The restaurant itself is a bit old-fashioned, like many in the area, but the staff were welcoming and everything was very clean and organized. We decided to try the three-course Express Lunch Menu, which costs £7.00 per person. This menu includes a choice of soup for starters, a variety of main dishes (chicken, pork, beef, or tofu) with a side of rice, egg fried rice, or noodles, and ice cream for dessert. Alternatively, you can opt for a chow mein dish instead of a main and side. The soup starter was delicious, a traditional Chinese soup that was hot and flavorful. The main dishes were generous portions for this type of menu. My kung po prawn dish was excellent, with plenty of prawns and Chinese vegetables, and the egg fried rice was freshly cooked. We both really enjoyed our meals. Would I come back? Yes, for a quick lunch, as the price was great, the food was traditional and tasty, and the staff were very friendly. For a night out with friends or a special occasion, I would choose a different restaurant.

The restaurant offers great value with generous portions. However, the curry was a bit watery for my taste. I prefer a thicker consistency, like what I would typically get from a Chinese restaurant.

I ordered a takeout meal for my family. The online ordering and payment process was very easy. I was able to select a pickup time when placing my order. When we arrived, the food was ready within minutes and it was still hot. Everyone enjoyed their meals and received many compliments. I will definitely order from this restaurant again!

This was a great Chinese. We had salt and pepper chicken- yum. For mains we shared pork curry, beef black pepper and schezwan chicken (can’t spell) along with egg fried rice and prawn crackers. It was all really good. If we lived local we would definitely return. They delivered and the food was still hot. Yummy
