Leuchtfeuer Cafe - Cuxhaven

There was a break in an otherwise rainy day, so we asked if we could sit outside. We were the only ones, but the staff was great! They dried off a table and even gave us blankets to ward off the chill. I wish I could tell you what we ate, but it was day 2 of a 9 day drive around Germany and by the end, we had stayed in 7 different hotels and had eaten at too many restaurants to remember them all. Thankfully, I took a picture, so at least I could figure out the name of the restaurant! From now on, I will take pictures of what we eat too! LOL! I know the service was wonderful and the food too!

My mom and I use to spend one weekend in Cuxhaven each february and we always go to this place. We love the cakes (the pieces are gigantic), they have simple but good food and the location is pretty nice with a great view towards the see and beach. The service is quick, not always suuuper friendly though but still far away from being rude. So, always a good choice!

We learned of this restaurant because friends of ours were having their wedding reception at this location. We decided to make it an extended weekend getaway. The restaurant is located on a dune above the beach and has a marvelous view of the water as well as nearby Neuwerk Island. This makes it the perfect location for sunset views.We first arrived at the restaurant the day before the reception for brunch. The food was delicious. The chef was very helpful especially in light of my food allergies and was able to provide me with freshly cut items that were prepared just for me. I added the vanilla yogurt to the fresh fruit compote at brunch- Delicious! The fortified milk, bread products, and yogurts are farmed/made specifically for this restaurant and were delicious. The chef informed us that the farm which provided the milk is not that far away and has tours and a petting zoo; however, we were to busy this weekend and will have to visit it another time. The evening of the reception was excellent. The wait staff were all prompt and friendly. The manager was very meticulous in making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Again the chef was able to adjust from the spinach encrusted tenderloin to just plain tenderloin for my health needs and was conscientiously concerned that I was able to enjoy the meal without feeling like an imposition to the staff. The bar was well stocked and all requests were met with prompt and friendly service. Even the children were attended to with imagination - my daughter was intoduced to a "Lemonaid" drink that was very interesting. OK, we added a little bit of brown sugar to ease the tartness for her sweet tooth but it was wonderful after that. We were all invited to return the next morning for brunch and again I was so comfortable despite my special needs. The building was shared with the Beach rescue service and the restroom area is open to the public beach visiters. This was the only drawback from this excellent restaurant as, at times, the restrooms were not treated kindly by the beach bathers.

We had the Veggieburger and the chicken crispy Burger. They came with beautifully cooked frits. Unfortunately, the burgers were not so good and they seemed to sell quantities of quality.

Good service! Great food! Clean appearance. You can only recommend this place. Serves very reasonable for the food and service you receive!
