Los Cabos Mexican - Cullman

I've been coming here for years, and it remains my favorite spot for Mexican food!

Our dining experience was fantastic! We were very satisfied with the waiter, the food, and the overall atmosphere—our family loved it. We enjoyed flan, fried ice cream, Mexican nachos, and a burrito (I can't remember the specific name). For the kids, we ordered chicken and fries, along with taco rice and beans as sides.

The positives: The service was excellent. Selina, our hostess, was truly wonderful. I tipped her 30% of our bill, and even then, it didn’t feel like enough. She made a great impression on both me and my girlfriend. The atmosphere is fantastic, with beautiful and creative interior design. The lunch prices are very reasonable. I ordered the grilled chicken chimichanga lunch plate; while the chimichanga was small, it was quite flavorful. We also tried the queso, which had a unique twist and was quite good. It had a subtle hint of spice and a touch of tomato flavor. I described it to my girlfriend as having a slight pimento flavor. The restrooms appeared very clean, although I do have a point about them that I’ll mention in the cons. The middle ground: I can see potential in the beans and rice. The rice had a green bean or small green pepper in it, and the beans had a hint of spice; however, both felt lacking to me. The beans were a bit runny, and the rice could’ve used more character outside of that one green item. I’d love to see the rice get a bit more personality. The negatives: A typical complaint I usually have about Mexican restaurants is regarding the salad. It tasted dull and cheap, which is sadly to be expected. They added some different cheese on top, which helped, but it still fell short. The salsa was unusual—not terrible, but not enjoyable for me either. It might need to be in the middle ground, but I have a strong appreciation for good salsa, and the tiny plastic cups they served it in didn't inspire confidence about its quality. While the restrooms were clean, they had a sketchy gas station feel. They really need to be renovated. Again, the toilets and sinks were clean; it just felt very uninviting. A minor complaint: there were no paper towels, and the hand dryer wasn’t immediately obvious. It took me a moment to realize that was the hand dryer since I was looking for paper towels. In conclusion: Having just celebrated its 20th anniversary, I can say my experience was pleasant, thanks to friendly and helpful employees. I do see areas for improvement, and I’d gladly give this restaurant five stars during my next visit. The ambiance and Selina’s outstanding service made me want to rate it five stars right away, but after taking everything into account, I felt that a perfect rating would be disingenuous. Four stars is still a solid review, and I genuinely believe this place has a lot of potential if they address a few issues. I would recommend giving it a try.

The food was awesome, and the service was good for late in the afternoon. Hot and fresh with plenty of seasonings.

The atmosphere is great to look at with good music to listen to while dining in. There are great options for food, and the chips and salsa are better than other restaurants.
