Contribuiți la feedbackSaw this old Pie shop on our way to Kangaroo Valley and I thought, I could not 'not ' stop-by especially when it says 'Best Pie in the World ' as they claim. Had to check it out. It was quite full of people inside when we got there and saw that there is a 'back room ' so I asked the lady if we can maybe squeeze in there, I was with my family that time.<br/ <br/ So when we went inside, we were surprised at how vintage it looked like, there were like this small room of library full of old books, candle wax and Kodak films (who still uses films?! . Anyway, I find it really awesome that they keep some vintage stuff in there which gives place more character.<br/ <br/ So we sat beside the window, I think it was made of alloy or shell, with dirty-white curtain illuminating the sun, while we eat our hot home-made pie. It was delicious really, tasty juicy and hot. It was a shame tho that their beef-wine pie had ran out when we arrived. So just got the chilli con carne and lamb, which were fairly good. I would come back here next time, hopeful to try their beef-wine pie! ,
I liked this place mostly because of the lady at the counter who was very friendly and chatty. The pies were not bad. Very flaky and nice crust with mushy goodness inside. I could easily eat two!
Self proclaimed 'the world 's best pies ' this place sure is popular because by the time we got there around 1pm, the only pies they had left were the lamb vegetable and chilli con carne. The pies are encased in puff pastry, which was flaky and nice but a bit on the thin side. My chilli con carne pie was quite spicy, overall it 's not bad. The shop also sells a variety of gourmet foods, it 's got a charming old world feel and outdoor seating to a beautiful view of the kangaroo valley.
Not bad. Actually, they're quite good. The pastry is a bit on the thin and floppy-side, but as the world's best pies, they were decent.
'The World 's Best Pies '. And yes they are pretty good! From a long list of pies, we chose the traditional Australian. This is a mincemeat pie with mixed herbs wrapped in the famous pastry. The pastry is world class. Arguably the best there is. The base seamlessly wraps around to also form the pie lid like a completely sealed unit. You wonder how the meat ever got inside. Savoury mincemeat with onion and flavoured with mixed herbs. It is a whopper and you really need a fork at the end to scoop up the overflow of mince. Pies cost $6.90 which is pretty reasonable for the area. See this and many more pie shop reviews at our Sling Adventures website.
