This restaurant in South Croydon is a hidden gem. I went with my wife and son and we enjoyed dishes like laksa, rendang beef, nasi goreng, and rice, washed down with Malaysian milk tea. The street food here is authentic and reasonably priced. Overall, a wonderful experience and definitely worth returning to.
Visited my son in South Croydon and decided to try out this Malaysian restaurant for a pre-Chinese New Year lunch with a friend. What a pleasant surprise! The food was absolutely delicious, reminiscent of the flavors of Penang. It was the best Malaysian food we've ever had - perfectly seasoned, fresh, and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered, including spring rolls, chicken satay, prawns and French beans in sambal sauce, red dates and fried tofu with sauce, and Fried Singapore Noodles with chicken. To drink, we had tea Tarik and Tiger beer, and for dessert, bubur cha cha. The quality and taste of the food definitely justified the price. I am quite particular about my food, and I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we will definitely be returning whenever we are in South Croydon.
Note they have moved to South Croydon, food as good as before. We generally visit on a monthly basis. Spicy Nasi Goreng Seafood.
Uncle Lima is a quite and quaint place that is just starting out. The menu is very limited at present but the owner and chef is going to expand once he can. The food we had was the nasi lemak and chicken noodle soup. I have to say these dishes were definitely homely, fresh and piping hot. The soup had a lovely broth albeit a little salty but I like salt so I didn't complain. The nasi lemak we asked for it to have no prawns and an extra egg, which they were happy to cater for. The nasi lemak was flavoursome and once again homely. It was a little samey after a while and could have done with a sauce. Maybe a peanut sauce to change it up a little. I do highly recommend this place as authentic and good for a quick meal at the end of a cold and annoying day.
