The Windmill - Croydon

I stopped by this restaurant to pass the time during an MOT appointment. The sign outside indicated that they served food, but upon finding a table, we were unable to locate a menu. A staff member informed us that we needed to order at the bar, and when we inquired about food, we were told it was not being served at that time. We agreed to come up to the bar shortly. However, we were then told that we needed to order something to remain at our table, and were not left alone until we went to the bar. The tone of the staff felt unwelcoming, especially since we had only been there for a short time and had shown no disrespect. The price of a pint of coke at £3.50 seemed exorbitant compared to other places. At one point, a drink was spilled on the table, and we had to search for napkins as there were none readily available. When questioned about where we got the napkins, it was pointed out that we shouldn't have accessed a certain room. It was suggested that napkins should be kept stocked at all times. Additionally, there were tiny dead winged bugs covering the windowsill near our table.

There is nothing to criticize about the food, the owners, the beer, or the staff at this restaurant. However, it seems that the pub is receiving fewer and fewer customers.

I stopped in for a beer and found a limited selection of the typical draft brews. It was a football night, but the pub was quiet enough that you could easily have a conversation. Definitely worth a visit.

Food is Indian which is good with an extensive menu. Bar comfortable and a good choice of drinks. Beer garden and parking.

Having eaten The Windmill on several occasions, can honestly say it never disappoints. The full Indian menu is authentic, fresh and would satiate any appetite.
