Xiang's Hunan Kitchen Tiān Tiān Xiāng Shàng

I've been a loyal customer and have always enjoyed their food, but I find the $28.95 price for Xiang's beef in golden soup with a delivery that was only 2/3 filled with rice noodles completely unacceptable. We are all dealing with inflation; I worked hard to afford and savor my meal, and this is what I received?

I grew up in Changsha and have been on the lookout for an authentic Hunan restaurant in both New York and Boston for years. I can confidently say that this restaurant is the real deal. They offer a fantastic selection of Hunan dishes, including many items I've never encountered elsewhere in the U.S. Among the dishes we tried, the eggplant with century egg, the cured pork, and the lotus root were exceptional. The flavors were vibrant and truly transported me back to Changsha. While I can't comment on some of the other dishes mentioned by reviewers as being subpar, I definitely recommend trying more of the Hunan specialties here. The service was also quite good for us; our party of four was served quickly, and the food came out without much wait at all. Overall, I would definitely return and highly recommend this place!

I read through the other reviews, and it's clear that this place can be inconsistent, similar to a rollercoaster ride. However, during our visit, we had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was spot on, the portion sizes were satisfying, and the prices were reasonable given our hunger. I typically give 4 stars, reserving the fifth for places that offer something extra. I believe they deserve that extra star for their delicious food and attentive service. Plus, the table was clean as well.

If you're an adventurous eater, this restaurant is a fantastic choice. The beef and tripe in chili oil were amazing; I was a bit hesitant about trying tripe, but it turned out to be delicious. The stir-fried lotus was also very flavorful. I'm glad we decided to stop by and I'm looking forward to trying more dishes in the future.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was lacking, and the food didn't seem very fresh. The potatoes had no salt, and unfortunately, I've felt ill every time I've eaten here. To make matters worse, the waitress keeps hovering around asking for a tip. Even after we tipped her, she suggested it wasn't enough and asked for more, which made me feel quite uncomfortable. Overall, it was not a pleasant visit.
