It totally looked like Northwoods and it is a new building with a long large cool bar, but only two bartenders could not keep up... I 'm not sure where to start, there were so many awful things and believe it or not we read all the reviews before we went. There were 14 of us... And we had the entire back room/banquet area.... With one server. First off, I think they were very understaffed and a synopsis of our dinner went as follows: My daughter ordered pepper jack cheese on her hamburger... It came out with American cheese ...Not only was the wrong cheese on her burger but it was the last thing to come out.... The fries were also severely over cooked; Two of the kids ordered fettuccine Alfredo for $16.99.... They said the Alfredo sauce tasted like milk and Kraft Parmesan cheese mixed together, neither of them could eat it.... They said it smelled terrible but they were on the other end or I would 've insisted they return it! The Prime rib was actually flavorful but one of them was overcooked and the other was not warm at all... Not to mention we ordered a side of mushrooms to share between the filet and the prime rib and all of them were poured over the cold prime rib! The overcooked prime rib was removed from the bill... As it could not be replaced because they were out. She ordered it medium rare and it came out well done! My $25 filet was cold, yet appropriately cooked temperature wise, and totally flavorless... not enough salt and pepper would even help it ... For the first time in eons I did not finish my dinner. I waited for everyone 's food to come out before I caught the waitress to ask her to have it warmed up; and most chefs would be smart enough to dip it in the container of au ju, but instead mine came out on a sizzling hot splashing fajita skillet with grease splattering three of us at the table and burning us! I had on a white outfit so I 'm sure my clothes will have to go to the dry cleaner.... What they called twice baked potato was actually mashed potatoes with white cheddar cheese in a tiny bowl that also came out cold.. Most people seemed to like the salad bar, most likely the best thing about the meal! They had beef stroganoff soup that was actually tasty, but also lukewarm and served in a wooden salad bowl! The only thing that people seem to like was the drinks, pizza, a dish with chicken with melted cheese and mushrooms and the cheese curd appetizer. To sum it up, let 's just hope this was an off night because it was a nice atmosphere and a beautiful brand-new building.... But very understaffed and possibly the main issue. Needless to say there are too many places to try and we will not be back!
Excellent seafood buffet, crab legs, 3 kinds of fish, chicken, ribs, shrimp and soup and salad bar. Very attentive staff, crab leg pan was kept full. And dessert bar to top it off. Really loved the clam chowder.
We stumbled into The Woods on a Yelp recommendation while visiting the area. To the pleasant surprise of our group, we happened upon the Saturday night prime rib buffet special which included all you could eat for about $23. We found the prime rib cooked perfectly and the salad bar was above par. One member of our group had the pan fried walleye and said it tasted really fresh. Our server was attentive, friendly and efficient. We would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
Their menu says the best prime rib and I certainly can't argue with them. The Friday seafood buffet isn't bad either. This is our favorite up north restaurant!
