We went on a Thursday at 7pm. The restaurant was filthy. Not the just after the dinner rush dirty, but filthy. Old, ratty booths, dust and dirt caked over every surface. The set up forces customers to go through the server station to get to the restroom. The whole place needs renovated and deep cleaned. Ordered the tar tar and it had the taste of something made that morning and sat in the cooler all day. For a $90 meal for two it was a mediocre experience. I could have gotten the same quality sushi at a buffet. The only saving grace was the kind and attentive server.
My husband and I stopped in after a gig and had the fortune to have a private hibachi table as no one else came in before the chef was ready. The food was delicious as always and our chef was talented and entertaining, as to be expected from an Ichiban restaurant. I usually get the chicken but this time decided to go for salmon and it did NOT disappoint. The salmon was flaky and delicious and had a beautiful glaze of sauce that didn't overpower the filet. We also ordered drinks which were both delicious. A blue lagoon and a geisha were both delightful and garnished with fruit. The birthday song at this location slaps. We saw two different people celebrate their birthday. One of the rooms even had some kind of disco party lights emanating from it like a birthday rave. Prepare to spend at least $20 a person here, but the value is in the experience. And don't forget to tip your chef and server!
Make sure to double-check your takeout order. The receipt may reflect what you ordered, but the contents of the bag can differ significantly. It seems that while the person taking the phone orders is attentive, those preparing the orders in the back aren't properly checking the tags. I've also noticed that the portion sizes seem smaller when dining in as well. I understand that prices are rising, but if I'm going to pay more, I expect at least the same level of service, if not better. The inconsistency in food quality and service compared to what they charge is disappointing. I don't plan to eat here anymore. If you don't have time to verify your takeout order, be prepared for potential mistakes.
It's a fantastic "dinner and show" experience here! Our hibachi chef was excellent, and the food was abundant and cooked to perfection. The waitress was attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
