Johnny Sánchez - Cozumel

I am a huge fan of Aaron Sanchez. Visiting one of his restaurants while in New Orleans was a must do on our list. We have followed his entire career and especially love seeing him on Masterchef. We have visited several Gordon Ramsey restaurants and truly felt the incredible top notch feeling of his businesses and their food and service. With that being said the food was delicious. But the service, atmosphere, and horrible bathrooms left this place feeling like a glorified Chipotle. The shrimp tacos and chips and salsa were great. But the overall experience from someone I consider a top level chef left me feeling underwhelmed and wanting more.

While coming to New Orleans from Laurel for weekend, we saw this amazing restaurant and decided to have dinner. Their Mxican food was the best I have tasted in America. Loved Tortilla Soup, Fajitas and wing were just out of the world. Missed Master Chef Aaron.

Every single thing we ordered took a very long time to arrive and tasted bland. We are very surprised the food was as bad as it was. The servers were all extremely polite helpful but we're not attentive. I get that I drink more water than most people but even my fiance who ordered well drinks was surprised by the bad service. We would have ordered more drinks if we had the opportunity but the servers seem to be either overwhelmed or at the worst, don't care. Either case, they lost money and I'm not coming back.

I loved the artwork inside the restaurant itself decoration was top notch. The food was way better than I was expecting. Shrimp tacos were 10/10 but the beans were super salty. The cocktails and mixed drinks were pretty pricey for what they were but overall were not bad. The brisket burger was super flavorful. I would recommend to anyone coming through Nola to give it a try!

No top shelf margarita uses triple sec, but that’s what this restaurant offers for its top margaritas. You have to pay an up charge for grand marnier. Mediocre guac, mostly broken tortilla chips, runny queso… The black beans were so salty that they were barely edible. The shrimp fajitas were also overly salted and did not come with typical grilled veggies. The waiter chatted up the ladies for long periods of time at other nearby tables instead of coming to check on ours or provide our check so we could leave in a timely manner. Saving grace was the fried shrimp tacos. Waiter literal said our corn tortillas are so bad, if anyone orders them we have to trade them out for the flour ones. Definitely expected more from an Aaron Sanchez restaurant.
