Back Cove Cafe - COW HEAD

While staying in Shallow Bay on a trip to the northern peninsula, we decided to dine out in Cow Head. We were drawn to a restaurant with local trucks parked outside and decided to give it a try. And we were not disappointed! The service was fantastic and our meal of freshly caught cod and chips was delicious. The portions were generous and perfect after a day of exploring. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the peninsula. Trusting the locals definitely paid off!

During our trip, we like to explore different restaurants. We came across this charming diner that had a well-decorated interior and a diverse menu board. The food was served by a young girl, without table service. We ordered fish and chips and a turkey sandwich, but ended up getting more bread than turkey in the sandwich. The fries were undercooked and some were soggy, while the fish was decent but a bit greasy. Perhaps the restaurant could improve during the summer when they have more tourists visiting.

Small bowl with seafood Khowder $9.99 thick with flour, barely seafood. Hot turkey sandwich had no vegetables on the plate, Gravy was from a package and was extremely salty. There are other restaurants in town, better to go through these.

This is a small cute cafe on the Main Street. We came here for ice cream and to take out seafood chowder. We asked them first how long it would take because we were trying to make a boat tour. They said only a couple...minutes so we ordered. It took 20 minutes for them to heat up a cup of chowder that we had to drink while driving in the car. It seemed they served dine in customers first. If they knew it would take a while then please tell us before we pay rather than after. Chowder and ice cream were fine but I just would have appreciated them just saying it would take a while.

Here in Cow Head for the Canada Day long weekend Lobster Fest. Heard that the Moose Burgers were excellent at the Back Cove Cafe. We ordered two Moose Burger Platters to go, which included a good-sized heap of home-cut fries. Everything was great. Very tasty...moose.....just like our moose burgers at home!
