We decided to stop by and take a look. The place was clean and nicely decorated. I can't quite understand why it wasn't busier on a Saturday night. The waitress could have been a bit more attentive, but she still did her job. I ordered the street pork taco, and I must say, it was probably the best taco I've ever had. It was just fried pork in a soft taco, with no sauces or condiments, but the pork was incredibly soft and moist. I found the place to be quite enjoyable and a hidden gem in Covington. Plus, their beer was cold!
On a Tuesday, which happens to be Taco Tuesday, your signs indicate that you're open for business, yet the door is locked. It's now 11:37 AM.
When our combo platters were served faster than a meal at Taco Bell, I realized the food wasn't freshly made, and I was right. Everything had clearly been microwaved. The canned, bland beans were tasteless, and the minute rice was just as bad. The burrito and enchilada were filled with some awful fake cheese that resembled cheese whiz, making both dishes inedible. When the server returned, I asked her to take away the untouched platter due to the terrible food. She removed it without a word and walked away—no apology or offer to replace it with something else. The only positive aspect of the experience was that we weren't charged for the dish. I've had better meals from TV dinners, and this place is a significant disappointment for Covington. It deserves much better than what this restaurant offers.
I used to love this restaurant, but my recent experience was disappointing. The chips were stale, and the cheese dip was so thick and lumpy that it held its shape even when turned upside down. The waitress was inattentive; despite being the only customers, we had to ask for drink refills and our bills. One of my sons received his refill, but my other son’s drink was left on the bar. I ordered a small margarita but ended up with a medium, which cost $7.99. We also ordered fried ice cream, but it was Superman flavor instead of vanilla. When I finally voiced my concerns (which is unusual for me), I noticed the waitress discussing me with another staff member in a dismissive manner. It was quite rude! I won't be returning. This place has changed a lot since Daisy and Sandy were in charge.
