Pizzeria Guerrilla - Courtenay

I am being lenient in my judgment due to the fact that this restaurant is located outside of a major urban area.

Initially, I was concerned about the price of $19 per person for a fairly large portion at Courtney's restaurant.

Wow! I am seriously blown away. This is the best pizza I have had in years. You absolutely must go try it for yourself.

On a north island trip my boyfriend and I stopped here for pizza and beer. Although the beer was average, the pizza was incredible. The toppings unique and innovative. The crust is second only to pizza I had while in Italy. Perfectly cooked, bubbly in the right spots, and not at all soggy. We ordered 2 pizzas, and because they are so thin and the toppings also thin (but adequate and delicious) I could probably eat a whole one myself quite easily. The descriptions on the menu I found perplexing, you're much better off getting a description from the staff. The girl working at the counter talked us into having Leek I am your Father with her mouthwatering description of it, and we definitely didn't regret it. I'm really glad I don't live in the same city as this place.... I'd have a very hard time staying away if I did!

We stopped in at noon for some lunch pizza right as they opened. My wife and I tried two different specials, one of which was recommended by the woman taking my order, and wouldn't actually have been my first pick. Both turned out to be amazing combinations of ingredients, and most importantly... the crust was awesome! I could go on and on about the crust, how it is thin yet sturdy, chewy and crunchy in the right places, and never soggy. If you appreciate pizza, you have to give this place a try. As someone else said in their review, I am now spoiled for pizza forever.
