I believe the management needs to monitor their security cameras more frequently. I am disappointed as I considered this to be the best bar in Durham. Hopefully, it will reopen in the future.
I went to the restaurant on Monday afternoon and enjoyed the pleasant outdoor seating. They had a great deal on cocktails, 2 for £10. The menu options were limited, but the bartender, Bar-Mid, was friendly and made me feel welcome. She took the time to chat with me despite being busy.
A great group for us (26 being exact) had come to durham on Saturday afternoon to celebrate a 50th birthday party. I did not drink and felt a bit cold, so when I went into the bar, I asked to buy a hot drink, others. in the bar/cafe that were in our group, had been served before me with coffee, I was rejected. I was told we weren't too busy. So I wondered to talk to the manager, and she repeated the same thing we are too busy. the customer service was terrible and I said that. to whom I was told: “If they want a warm or soft drink on Saturday, they do not come to a cocktail bar and go “, so if their tee total, are the designated driver or simply not lust to drink alcohol, they do not want to make money here....not the best way to run a business. sure to say we will not come back or recommend.
“Excellent Water” Jonny Lowe. Lovely spot for a coffee. Lovely and very friendly staff who looked after us.
Staff great, great choice of spirits to drink unlike many other Durham bars, nice location but a few stairs to get there. Lovely seating and decor was very nice. Best bar we went to in the city.
