Toast Kitchen Bakery - Costa Mesa

We hoped the hype and reviews lived up to expectations but sadly fell short on many aspects. There was a wait to get in which for the reviews was a good sign. The vibe is ok there but it is very loud and busy. Rusty metal cups were a little concerning. The waiter was not patient and seemed to care more about pushing people through than the quality of the service.We ordered the chicken waffle and avocado salad. The waffle was good but the chicken was overcooked and not not tasty. The salad was very small for the price more like an appetizer but it was pretty good.Overall, I would say the food is not worth the price and the service leaves more to be desired.

My wife and I stopped in for a tasty lunch, and were once again overwhelmed with how delicious the food here actually is. I had a blackened chicken sandwich that must’ve had 14 ingredients. Each bite was an explosion of delicious flavor with a mild Lee I should say lightly spicy blackened chicken. It was super tender. The whole sandwich was probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had.

This was an amazing find. There was a small wait to be seated on Saturday but it was under 20 minutes and the staff did a great job communicating with us. The food, portions and price all hit the mark. We got the quiche and the chilaquiles, and we had to grab a pie tO go as well. The vibe is chill and welcoming. The staff was amazing, Normandy and Michelle deserve a raise! We'll be back anytime we're in Costa Mesa.
