Paragon - Costa Mesa

The restaurant was completely closed when I arrived, and I wasn't informed about its permanent closure until I got there. I had to search online to find out that it was no longer in operation. There was no signage indicating the closure at the entrance or anywhere else.

Went for brunch on a Saturday, service was great, food was delicious, and we enjoyed the live music.

We ordered the bottomless mimosas for $30 but only managed to have three each because we were not informed until the end of our meal about the one-hour limit on them. When we first ordered, our initial server brought out a refill on the side, which set our expectations for the rest of the experience. However, after finishing our rounds and waiting about 20 minutes for more, we had to ask our new server for additional mimosas. When we requested another side refill like we had initially received, he told us that we couldn’t have it until we finished our current drinks. Upon finishing, we asked again for more, only to be told we could only have one more due to the hour limit. We were frustrated because we had no idea about this limitation; if we had known, we would have adjusted our consumption. The first server was aware that we were catching up and didn’t mention any limits, nor was there any information about this policy on their website, through OpenTable, or on the menu. When we pointed this out, our male server explained that the limit was to prevent “wasting product,” and he said he would see about giving us one more mimosa along with a discount on our bill, which we hadn’t requested as we simply felt that there should have been clear communication about the limits. However, when we received the bill, there was no discount applied. We asked to speak with a manager to discuss the situation. The manager listened to our concerns and stated that we would receive a discount. When he returned, he had reduced our bill by just $9. While we appreciated the gesture, we felt it didn't adequately address our experience. When I inquired about the limit on mimosas in an hour, he said there wasn't one, which left me confused about the entire situation.

I went for brunch and was really disappointed. The French toast bites were more like chips, and the other dishes were just average. Overall, it wasn't worth it at all.

Always great food and service! Food is outstanding when we attend brunch and the live music makes you feel like you're in a completely different place.
