Contribuiți la feedbackThis restaurant is very small and very local. It took 3 trips to Cortona to be able to get in for lunch. The menu is limited and what is on offer tends to vary a little bit. You can usually find the daily menu outside. You will only find traditional Tuscan dishes here, and everything is made fresh. We enjoyed the Tuscan misto, pappa al pomodoro, pici aglione, and tortellini al fumo. Everything was tasty and incredibly fresh. The pasta was piping hot straight from the pan. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the pappa al pomodro and tortellini al fumo. Mario is hospitable, the decor is rustic and simple, and the food is fresh and delicious. It's definitely worth trying to get a reservation in advance though.
Very good food, we love it. Spaghetti Aiglione, ossobuco A lot of Italians eat here, so it must be good Small, simple restaurant with 6 tables inside and a terrace next to the ancient Etrusken wall.
Went here two times during our stay in Cortona but would have come back for a third time if possible. The traditional food here is really something extraordinary! They will not serve everything on the menu but will tell you which dishes are available for the day. However, everything we tried was really delicious and they always had vegetarian options.
Great little restaurant with a limited but great menu. The owner was very friendly and the food was excellent. The house red wine was also very good. Well worth a visit.
We had heard about Mario and his simple fare from friends who spend part of each year in Cortona. It took us two trips to connect with him and get a “reservation”. This is a very small place with maybe 5 tables inside and 4-5 outside in good weather. While there are lots of good options inside the Cortona walls, you need to try this one. His carbonara is even better than everyone says. His pasta al fumo is terrific. House vine is fine! And his tiramisu could be the best in the world seriously). He doesn’t always have it “weather has to be right so the eggs don’t crazy” he says), but if he does don’t pass it up. We ate there 3 times in a week. Small, simple, one guy’s take on classics—hidden gem of the highest order!
