Contribuiți la feedbackTop quality wine shop, not to be missed. Wine tasting can be done on the premises and the owner Marco was the perfect host. Explaining about the various wines tasted, his English perfect and humour even better. He had us laughing as well as enjoying his fabulous wines and would recommend to anyone who visits Cortona.
I was told by many people that this is the place to buy wine. I walked in and showed the older gentleman a picture of the wines I was looking for. He pointed to the shelf and said here… I couldn’t find what I was looking for and he seemed more interested in other things. I was the Only customer in the place at the time. Didn’t offer any tastings, and overall just very rude. I’ll be in Cortona for a week and will buy my wine elsewhere!!
Molesini is one of the best wine shops I’ve ever been in, and the personalized service from Marco and his brother Paolo are the reason that the store is so well-known. You can’t miss the store, it’s right on the main square of Cortona. Any of your Italian wine needs, especially Tuscan wine, can be satiated here. The whole place is full with great Chianti Classico and Brunello and Vin Santo. They’ve been in the wine business for so long, and have a deep understanding of all the wines that they sell. They also are doing something unique with their wine club, which is not very common in Italy like it is in the USA. Of course, the wine shop does not have its own vineyards, but the relationships that they have with the growers means they pass unique items at good prices on to their customers. So even if you go back home, you can still be supplied with some great and different wines that are probably not exported into the USA because of limited production. Overall, even if you just want to take a few bottles back home, this shop is worth the stop.
We had a great afternoon enjoying a private tasting of the local wines and nibbles. We learnt lots from the friendly welcoming staff, enabling us to enjoy our future wine selections. We purchased lots to be shipped and in fact returned the following day to take part in a further, public tasting. Well worth popping in, very nice people.
We had booked in for a wine tasting with some friends, and I have been a club member for a couple of years, and am in awe of what they have sent me, every bottle so great and have been able to spread some of the word via bottles to friends. A Tasting was a must! Marco was so engaging, and what he doesn't know about red wine is probably not worth knowing about! He had pre chosen 6 bottles to choose and took great pleasure in telling us the history about Italian and especially Tuscan wine. Wine drinking should come from the father and should be from a young age. Wine is food, and unlike UK Italy don't tax wine something tells me there is the answer to the idiots who go to Spain and Ibiza for their holidays, but that's another story. Book a tasting with Marco. Do something constructive with your time, and you will also learn loads! Why the rest of the world try and produce red wine when Tuscany do it so well is beyond me! Oh and join the club, they send you wine every quarter, and you cant get it in the shops, except Cortona obv! I will be keeping an eye out for the tastings and dinner to try them out.
