Cafe Braceria Chianina - CORTONA

Wonderful food, kind and friendly service! We are staying at a local resort and tiring of the same limited menu each evening, we ventured out. This local steakhouse is amazing! The friendly staff welcomed us with smiles and warm greetings, Liza the server was very helpful as we chose our steaks and pasta, Daniel, the chef personally came to our table to help us understand which beef we should select (local Tuscany vs Ireland, Poland, New Zealand beef). We chose local Tuscany and he grilled it over a wood fire and personally delivered it to our table, all cut up for us. This kind, friendly service was a sharp contrast to our resort server who took a dislike to us because we requested a quiet table for our dinner. GO figure! We intend to return tonight for dinner again. Home made pasta, local Syrah wine for$6 per glass that was delicious and deserts for $5 (mousse, panna cotta, cheesecake). Don’t miss this local gem.

When you travel through Tuscany you expect to enjoy a fine meal al fresco in a small medieval building on a narrow vicolo. But ask the locals in Camucia, particularly the truck drivers, and they'll send you to Cafe Braceria (unless their cousin owns a tourist trap). Our friends live in Cortona and we were surprised when we pulled into the parking lot. Nothing medieval, it's in a small strip mall but you can done al fresco (while getting your laundry done next door). But the food was terrific. All their pastas are made on premises fresh daily and they only use chianina beef and pork. I watched a hamburger go by 200grams of gorgeous beef. Service is friendly and prompt. You can get by with just English. They cater to the locals but you will not feel uncomfortable or out of place. Reasonably priced.

Busy restaurant just outside Camucia. Looks nothing from the outside as it’s along a row of units. Friends raved about it so we gave it a whirl as it has a great meat reputation. Parking was easy. Large modern interior with 20 tables. Very busy at lunchtime but managed to get a table. Friendly owners. Ordered local steak with rosemary and green pepper for my wife and I tried the burger. Mouthwatering. Steak was excellent and I had the best real steak burgers I have had for many years.... a real treat. Bill including Coffees and water for 32 euros. Must return restaurant especially if you are a meat eater

Informal restaurant for lunch orchard but not too much. meat on top (fiorentino doc,) fast and courteous service.
