Sheerwater - Coronado

Prices are reasonable, especially considering the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Point Loma, which are truly spectacular! My wife and I enjoy dining on the patio, where we can feel the lovely weather while watching guests stroll through the picturesque grounds. The ocean is calm, and the breeze is just right as the sun sets. Occasionally, you may need a light jacket due to the marine layer that can roll in from the coast, but for those who prefer to stay indoors, the Italian Mediterranean dining room offers a delightful view through wall-to-wall windows. This is a charming spot that provides excellent value in the San Diego area. Over the past 15 years, my wife and I have dined at Sheerwater about five times a year, and we plan to continue for many more years. It's always a pleasure, and parking is convenient as your ticket will be validated by the staff. Making reservations is easy, although walk-ins are also welcome, with generally no more than a 45-minute wait during peak times. The hotel itself is worth exploring, and the various shops offer an interesting diversion if there happens to be a wait.

As for brunch, it offered nearly everything you could want, though they don’t serve crab legs. I do miss the old brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado that used to be offered before COVID, as it has been discontinued since then.

The restaurant, despite being located in such a beautiful hotel and having entree prices that suggest otherwise, lacked warmth and ambience. We expected at least tablecloths, but instead, we found patio-style tables. We ordered pork chops cooked medium, but one of them had to be sent back because it was actually rare. Although it turned out to be delicious, one of us was left without a meal until the dish was correctly prepared. Additionally, the menu we received upon arrival was missing many of the entrees we had seen online. On a positive note, our server was very attentive, friendly, and apologetic about the issues. Unfortunately, we found ourselves wishing we had opted for the bar menu instead, which we enjoyed while waiting for dinner.

Cody was incredible and very helpful. He guided us through the menu and was very attentive, just like his team member. Since we live on the island, this was our first visit to Sheerwater, and we will certainly be back!

2 friends and I celebrated New Year's Eve with an early dinner here. The hotel grounds were crowded with people enjoying the lights and ice skating. We. had a table tucked away from the hustle and bustle and enjoyed a leisurely evening. The food and wine is pricier than I normally enjoy, but the service and atmosphere were worth it. The server did not rush us which was much appreciated. This may become a special event tradition.
