Contribuiți la feedbackWe were a group of 10 people, ranging from 9 to 81 years old, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at this cafe. The food quality was impressive, with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options that pleased us. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip in terms of dining experiences.
After the walk down to the beach we stopped and ordered cream teas each. It was so windy that one scone fell on the floor and the staff kindly replaced it immediately. Dog friendly.
The Beach Cafe is located at the bottom of Castle Road near the footbridge to Tintagel island. It is operated by English Heritage and housed in repurposed buildings from the mining industry. The cafe offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, cakes, and light lunches. The nearest car park is The Castle Car Park on Atlantic Road at the Wootons Inn, with a fee of £3.50 for two hours or £5 for the whole day (cash only at the time of our visit). If the car park is full, there are other options available in town. It takes about 20-30 minutes to walk down to the cafe from the main road, but offers stunning views of the footbridge, island, and coastline. For those unwilling to make the steep trek back up Castle Road, a Land Rover service is available for a small fee, which we found to be well worth it. Please note that this service is not managed by English Heritage.
A nice place to stop off, after you come back down the castle trail, to have a drink and something to eat.
After visiting Tintagel Castle, this cafe is conveniently located for a quick stop. Unfortunately, the lack of variety and poor quality of food options was disappointing. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, only pre-packaged sandwiches and crisps were available, with no hot food like pasties. The coffee was weak and lackluster, and the service was slow despite the limited menu. Overall, I was unimpressed and do not recommend this cafe. I will not be returning.
