We come here every year for our anniversary meal and we’re never disappointed. This year we thought was the best yet! All staff were excellent, friendly and extremely efficient. The food was absolutely amazing. Cannot fault it. Highly recommend it for a special treat.

We enjoyed a number of wonderful meals at the Star Castle dining room. Thoughtful and talented cooking and attentive and well trained staff. There was one lemon sole starter with leeks that I’m still thinking about. Great work from the team. And thank you.

The menu offered some interesting options like lobster, monkfish, and beef with braised ox cheek, all cooked as expected. However, despite the professionalism of the chefs, we were disappointed with almost every aspect of the meal. My wife even said it was the worst meal she had ever had. The food seemed overpriced for the quality we received. We were shown a sample menu when we booked, but on the night none of the options we liked were available. With our preferences in mind, there were only two choices that didn't include fish or lamb: the beef or butternut squash risotto. Unfortunately, the beef dish was not to our liking, with bland mashed potatoes and undercooked meat. My wife ended up swapping her dish for the butternut squash risotto, which I never would have chosen normally. The starter was underwhelming, with cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and olive paste on hard bread. The dessert was okay, a standard crème brûlée with blackberries and ice cream. The ambiance was nice, as we were seated in a beautiful castle, but the lack of privacy at the tables was off-putting. Overall, our experience was very disappointing. If you enjoy fine dining, this restaurant may be for you, but if you prefer tasty and filling food at a reasonable price, there are better options available nearby. We shared our experience with a local who was surprised, as they considered it their favorite place to eat. We found better meals at other restaurants in the area like Kavorna, Carn Vean, Little Arthur, and even the Turks Head.

The service at this restaurant is consistently outstanding, making it the top dining spot in the area. This is why the locals choose it for their special celebrations.
