Contribuiți la feedbackIt was my wife's and i are 48 wedding anniversary. We chose to go to this establishment. Because my wife had been to the one in Hull Quebec. And always spoke highly of her experience there. So with this in mind your restaurant was are plan and made reservations a month before the date. We were looking forward because we had not been out for some time due to COVID-19. It was a real terrible experience and would not recommend this restaurant at all. Food was terrible drinks okay and acceptance of our comments to the server. The lady bached me personally because i have no teeth and my wife suggested the steak was tuff. The server just insisted that because of me not having teeth would make any steak feel tuff. Although they offered us a fillet mignon. We refused and eat what we could and left really bummed out. Especially it being our 48 wedding anniversary. Buiummmmennnd outtt big time. Yours truly Mr and Mrs R . Dinelle .
Huge portions but I didn't enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant as the tables were so close together without any room to move! I was in the middle and every time that I had to go to the bathroom I had to get everyone to move! I would suggest the grilled chicken or the salmon, both were very good! Friendly staff, but didn't seem very busy at the time we were there!
I've been to this Au Vieux Duluth many times over the years and consider it my favourite place for souvlaki in Cornwall. Today however, I decided to stray from my normal meal of choice. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted promptly and kindly by the host. The decor and cleanliness of this establishment is great. I really like the layout, colours and furniture they chose. After we were seated, I glance over the menu and to my disappointment, I see that the pork souvlaki is not a lunch special. Not a huge deal for me today since I wasn't really in the mood for it but no doubt will upset me in the future. We were served by Leah. Service was near perfect. She was friendly and done with a smile, attentive but not overbearing and prompt. I decided to have the butterfly shrimp lunch special which came with choice of soft drink or tea and daily soup which today was lentil. Well, I'm not one for lentil soup but I had a bowl just to try it but it didn't really change my mind. Can't blame the cook though. It was flavourful just not my taste. The main course arrived about 10 minutes after we placed the order. The shrimp was cooked nicely however I felt the flavour was a bit overpowering. I've always enjoyed their side salad here and today it was great again with one minor hiccough. They over did it with the dressing but you can't please everybody. I'm just a guy that likes just a bit of dressing but other people like lots so I won't hold that against them much. And as always the potatoes and rice were good. The portions at Au Vieux Duluth are always HUGE. I haven't left there hungry yet. My lunch was a bit pricey at $14 plus tax but you do get a lot of food. Normally a 4 star with the souvlaki but unfortunately I decided to try a new lunch which was not quite as good but it still hit the spot. I would recommend Au Vieux Duluth as a nice restaurant with good food, especially if you're hungry!
I've never been to a Vieux Duluth before, and I'm pretty confident I won't be returning. Honestly, at the end of the day, this chain has the appearance of good food with out actually serving good food. There's no authenticity, everything tastes like it came from Costco and the only things they got right are the ambiance and the water. I think their menu was designed by accountants rather than chefs (that was a Jamie Oliver line btw, I wish I could take credit for it).
