Contribuiți la feedbackWang Ga Ma is a genuine Korean restaurant that focuses on Korean stews. They proudly call themselves “Royal Village, King of Hot Pot.” The restaurant is conveniently situated in the same plaza as H-Mart in Coquitlam, located right next to Kimbab Cheonguk and across the street from the Black Milk Water Cafe. The inviting exterior of Wang Ga Ma enhances its overall charm.
I ordered the noodles for $22, but the portion size and flavor were basically the same as the ones available at the supermarket nearby for just $10. Furthermore, there were only a few small pieces of meat included. The price for this dish is truly outrageous.
This is definitely my new favorite restaurant! I absolutely love the food here! In the summer, I can't get enough of the mulnengmyeon and in the winter, the haejangguk is a must-try. I highly recommend it – it's the best Korean food around!
The woman I assumed was the owner seated us on the left side of the restaurant and simply forgot about us. The table behind us received their drinks and utensils and even placed their order before we did. We waited for 10 minutes—yes, I timed it—and still had nothing. We tried to catch the attention of the two waitresses to place our order, but they seemed completely oblivious. Eventually, we had to speak up for someone to come over and take our order. Afterward, we requested some tea since we had no drinks or utensils. The waitress agreed but then vanished, leaving us high and dry. To make matters worse, when the owner finally brought our food, it was the wrong order. At that point, I was irritated and pointed out that we still had no utensils or drinks. Despite my evident frustration, there was no apology or acknowledgment from her. This experience has left me understanding how others might feel in an Asian restaurant—it's ironic since I'm Asian myself. I've attached some photos from my first visit, which was a much better experience. I hope they take this feedback to heart and improve their service because that kind of experience is simply unacceptable. Poor customer service can ruin a restaurant, even with excellent food.
This is an ideal spot for a meal on a chilly, rainy day. The soups arrived steaming hot. The Bulgogi Soup was delightful, packed with a variety of ingredients and featuring a wonderful balance of sweetness and saltiness. The Dogani-tang Soup was tasty as well, but it required a little tweaking with the salt and pepper provided to get the flavor just right. All in all, we had a great lunch and would certainly return.
