Coolum Surf Club - Coolum Beach

Visited here for lunch on a cold, windy Sunday afternoon. Had been at my table for only 40mins or so when I was told the table was reserved and I would have to vacate in 20mins, 15mins before the remainder of my party was to arrive. The table did NOT have a reserved sign on it when I sat down, like many of the other tables did. I pointed this out. I asked the waitress where I was supposed to relocate to. She said outside (no thanks, too blowy) or somewhere in the bar (no again, I have not come to sit in a bar for lunch). She then walked off. All I can assume is that means disinterest. I flagged another waitress down and asked her to discuss with her manager where I could relocate to. I heard nothing. At all.When I walked around looking for a new table, unsuccessfully, both waitresses were also walking around, averted their eyes and offered me no assistance.I did not find another inside table, including in the bar.A quick phone call to the others in my party informed them of the situation and told them other plans very necessary. Bad luck Coolum Surf Club, that's 5x adult meals and 5x drinks not purchased, if that means anything to you. Maybe not on a busy Sunday, but my patronage won't be coming your way anymore on an off-peak weekday either with any of my interstate visitors.I am a member of this club. I had paid for a meal, and the remainder of my party was coming in for a meal. Unless your table is clearly marked with a RESERVED sign then do not ask people to vacate unless (1) they have long passed their welcome (ie been there for hours or haven't had a meal) or (2) are offered an acceptable alternative table. If a guest asks you to find them an alternative then have the courtesy of getting back to them within 20mins. So rude!I am a member of this surf club, but needless to say that won't be renewing that and I will choose to spend my $$ elsewhere. There are plenty of other options on the SSC.

You have to support the local surf club, become a member and get great discounts and bonuses. And what's more you can get into all sorts of clubs across the country. Great views across the beach either inside or outside, lots of beer on tap and really good food.The mussels and calamari are both very good and probably standouts on the menu.

Starters was a share of the Mexican Vegetarian Pizza Authentic taste with fresh tasting ingredients.The the 250g rump. I got a really large thick steak grilled perfectly to medium rare order. The meat was lean and tender and appeared more like 350gChips were good too....long and thick cut.Overall very impressive and highly recommended Can only think the negative ratings are very dated!

The view is so special and we had a lovely meal served pretty quickly considering how busy the restaurant was. The steaks, salads and pizzas were all great.

We enjoyed our lunch at the club. Food was plentiful and service was quick and efficient. The view from balcony was terrific. Certainly an ideal spot for lunch. Certainly recommend.
