Cecada Cafe-Restaurant & Bar

Had dinner here recently and took advantage of the $59 (for two) seafood platter deal which is served before 6:30. Good variety of seafood on the platter, Service friendly and efficient. Had an on-site musician who was very good and that gave the place a bit of ambience.

We all enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cecada last week! The hosts nicely reorganised the restaurant floor to accomodate 10 of us! They had a special menu on Easter Friday offering a nice variety of affordable options from garlic prawns, to barramundi fillets, salmon dish and fish & chips. The service was very good and the food very fresh and tasty! We will certainly returned there to try the rest of their menu. Thank you to the Cecada team to helping us celebrate a nice Easter lunch with friends and family. We had a very good time!

Good points about this restaurant.1. Quick service2. Friendly service3. Had a nice gentleman singing which was a nice change, some entertainment.Why I was disappointed,1. They had a special of a seafood platter which stated it included lobster and king fish. When we ordered they advised they don't have king fish tonight can they replace with salmon. No problems. When it came out it was 2 small thin strips of smoked salmon very disappointed as it was a replacing a hot fish item with this low cost replacement. This should have been told clearly at time of order that this was not going to be a hot piece of cooked/grilled salmon. Instead of lobster they gave me a Moreton bay bug, I have no problems with a Moreton bay bug they are beautiful piece of seafood, they are however not a lobster. They are also much smaller than a lobster. When I questioned this the waitress went and asked the chef who stated that they are different but they are really the same. Well actually "No" it's different and its misleading advertising. It is equivalent to saying a crab is a prawn all because they are the same crustacean category.

The dining experience was excellent. The food was simple and delicious, prepared perfectly! My partner ordered the large breakfast and claimed it was one of the best breakfasts he had ever had.

I have visited Coolangatta several times and have always found this restaurant to be a bit confused in terms of the cuisine it offers. However, on my most recent visit, I was pleased to see a new menu and decided to give it a try. The food was surprisingly good - actually, it was really good. It's definitely worth the price and better than the meals I have had at George's Paragon next door. With new owners and a new chef, I see no reason why this place should be so empty. I recommend giving it a try - you will be pleasantly surprised. To the new owners, please consider hiring staff who can attract customers. I have seen potential customers looking at the menu without any encouragement to come in, and that is business you are missing out on. Your food is truly excellent - just put in a little extra effort to attract a crowd and others will follow. Best of luck to you all. I will definitely be back next time I am in Coolangatta.
