Contribuiți la feedbackWe often call in to the bar post-walk for refreshments. However, no tea available and the price of one black coffee, blackcurrant cordial and two packets of crisps was £10.50...this seemed at bit pricey to me so we, unfortunately, after visiting for years, won't be back.
The restaurant is now run by Flame and Grain Wood Fired Catering at the Bryn Tyrch, which has been a welcome addition to an already well established Inn. Having eaten here for two nights, it is clear there is a lot of pride on the food all homemade, cooked to order, and with quality local) ingredients. Simply excellent and couldn’t fault a thing! Staff are friendly and accommodating too, with a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic) beverages. A firm favourite for walking in the local area, and walkers can be assured of a good meal after a day on the mountain.
Food very underwhelming Shame as I remember this as serving excellent food in the past Meat was cheap and not cooked properly
I arrived in Betwys-y-coed in mid-July, and tried to find somewhere to eat after a long journey. I called lots of different restaurants but nowhere was able to make a reservation for me. I was about to give up until I called Bryn Tyrch Inn Restaurant and I was so relieved to find that not only were they not too busy, but I didn't even have to make a reservation! This was a huge relief as I thought I'd have to travel quite far or get a take away. They were serving pies this day, and to be fair I did quite enjoy the pie. However, the pie was served with crisps instead of chips, an extremely basic salid and pickled eggs and onions. At first I thought that this was a Welsh thing to serve food this way, but after eating at other nearby restaurants on the following days, the difference in quality of the dishes became quite apparent; lovely chunky chips and great side foods. The dish I ate would have been fine if it was clear that it wouldn't come with cooked chips, was served at lunch time, and was a slightly lower price, but I felt a little let down with my food. The service was good, they were friendly and attentive. I took photos of all my meals on my holiday, but didn't capture this one as I didn't feel it was worthy of sharing.
We had a fabulous family dinner here...generous portions of quality food well priced and served with proper hospitality...it's a family business that clearly cares. Support them. Great steaks, burgers and fish and chips...pub classics executed with great ingredients and style.. applause especially for the super tasty rump steak. When I spotted lamb scratchings as a starter bite I knew someone in the kitchen knew how to cook...deep fried bits of lamb breast that our kids demolished. Desserts were generous and tasty...we shared the sticky toffee and it was excellent...go.
