The Sun - Coniston

The food at this restaurant is delicious and likely the best value in Coniston. However, the real ale is not well maintained, despite offering a good selection. The layout is a bit odd, especially with the specials board positioned in a way that can be intrusive when trying to read it above a table. The atmosphere seemed a bit unwelcoming to non-locals, with some foul language being a common occurrence. While I personally found the setting comfortable, it felt a bit artificial with what appeared to be an impressive cooking range actually being made of pressed steel rather than cast iron. The service was pretty good overall.

The small Scottish manager wearing sunglasses inside made a mistake with my takeout order and threw it away. Despite this, the food at the restaurant is typically delicious and I would recommend it overall. I may return in the future, but hopefully the manager will remember this time.

Charming 16th century pub with a fantastic atmosphere and extremely welcoming bar staff. They offer a wide selection of 8 delicious real ales.

Beautiful atmosphere, very welcoming, ample seating options. The hot chocolate is delicious.

The food at Bear was delicious. The service was a bit slow, but the Dizzy Blonde beer was a standout.
