Designed for the work and transport driver. Good local food served quickly by Madame while Monsieur is in the kitchen.
We had been meaning to go to the Cafe de la Gare but reading other reviews about the restaurant we suspected that it would be like a transport cafe, French style for local workers. How wrong can one be ! We were welcomed in to...a nice friendly restaurant with a new bar and two dining rooms with lots of small tables. Very relaxed atmosphere with a friendly French waitress. She explained the set menu with a buffet starter and dessert with a choice of 3 plat du jour. We were a little late arriving so the first choice of lamb was not available with the couple at the next table ordering the last 2 dishes. There were smiles all round amongst us with a friendly nod from the Frenchman. We ordered a duck dish which was delicious. This was followed with a reasonable selection of desserts (including eclairs , pannacotta and creme brulee A very nice experience of culinary delight for the princely sum of 12 euros 90. That even included a nice bottle of table wine. This is definitely a good example of fine rural cuisine served in a traditional way for the hungry hordes amongst us.
