Château De La Barre

Castle of the 15th century, remained in the same family... Located in the hollow of a valley, the Anille River passes on its lands that rise in the successive slopes of the road that leads to the highway A 11 by the extremely pleasant little town of La Ferté Bernard... The castle has preserved vestiges of its first era. The last restoration allowed the opening of luxurious rooms turned to the old fortifications that overlook the beautiful colorful garden below... and further, on the moving church of Conflans sur Anille which, from its green height, looks on the estate and anne l'Angelus every evening....

Stay unforgettable! Have enjoyed the elegance of the castle and the beauty of the rooms as well as the comfort of the mattresses and the modernity of the bathroom. The welcoming of the owners is warmest. Porto and flowers were waiting for us on arrival.

Dog bite!! Mixed review: The good- excellent tour guides and itinerary, dinner was lovely The bad- owner’s dog bit me. Broke skin. Bruising. Required antibiotics. Not even a consideration that this is so unacceptable that there should be financial compensation. Do not recommend.

I loved my stay at Château de la Barre in the bright “chambre jaune”. It was much more than just an elegant accommodation, it was a unique experience of French art de vivre, being a warmly welcomed guest in an authentic French château and family home. The travel tips and sightseeing advice given to me by the owners, Count and Countess de Vanssay (there family has lived here since 1404! made all daily excursions really special.
