Spicy Joi’s Banh Mi Lao Street Food

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I paid $15 plus tax for a tiny portion of crispy pork belly with rice, which was a joke. I had expected the vegetables to be the main course and the crispy pork to be a side dish, but that was not the case. To make matters worse, halfway through the meal, none of the crispy pork skin was actually crispy - it all tasted like rubber. It's a shame to see a once-good restaurant deteriorate like this.

This restaurant is a must-visit for delicious and authentic Lao cuisine. Everything we ordered was outstanding and I would order it all again. The crispy pork belly and sausages were a delightful combination, especially when eaten with sticky rice and jeo. The banh mi was my favorite, the smoked or charred tofu was a unique and tasty twist. The grilled chicken was also excellent. I highly recommend getting at least 2 spicy pork rinds to enjoy on the car ride home. The lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing. To top it off, we enjoyed Noelle's expertly crafted coconut desserts. They consisted of layers of coconut that were not only visually appealing but also delicious.

The restaurant offers authentic flavors with a variety of delicious options to choose from. The service is quick and friendly, with the owners taking the time to greet us and ensure that the food and service meet our expectations.

Foods are good, taste is authentic. I would recommend to anyone who loves Thai, Laos, Vietnamese foods.

Best banh mi I have ever had. And I have had them from some of the legendary spots in San Jose for 17 years. Crusty bread on the outside, warm 'n soft on the inside. Vegetables marinated to perfection and super cold, contrasted with the meat which waslikewise perfectly marinated and temperature hot. See the pics I attached. I ordered Xtra meat for a small charge. Well worthit. I 've had both the BBQ pork sandwich and the chicken. I can 't say one was better than the other, so next time I 'm getting ahalf of each banh mi mixed together. I asked for a soy sauce to douse it and they gave me a nice bottle with dispenser topinstead of a plastic packet. Restaurant is impeccably clean, incl what I would describe as luxury hotel restrooms and sinks. And the employees are beyond super polite. The shiz!
