With high vaccination rates and zero kovid cases in the north vancouver island zone, it is now quite sure to dare to eat, sans masks. recently we were invited to lunch and chose the filberg Outdoor Café. it is now under a new cooking and kitchen team, with them a new expected menu. Sittings are in the free, 2 meter distance, on a wise from the park of the other, etc. the chef has raised the menu considerably, with local ingredients and fresh dressings. this is what most better restaurants have done since the last decades. no burger and pommes here. that's a nice change. after checking the leaf menu, I ordered the baked oysters only to say that it was not available due to the red flut. my thought is that if not available, please take it from the menu so that I don't waste my time to find out an alternative. So I chose the salmon cake with a light salate. that was a small disc on a small bed of green. the cake falls apart with a fork and the taste is ok. this was $18.00 two of us also shared a filberg salad, which is beaning, inherited, and some candied nuts. it's tiny. $14.00 the crispy seared chicken was a few slices of roasted chicken breast on a similar bed of greens than salmon. hold the atem. $26.00 presentation is very good, and service prompt. the atmosphere is sea and mountain views with the lush gardens behind them. so it is a special place to go. but my feeling is that it is too high. when I came home, I had a snack, they serve beer and wee.
A group of 5 of us old friends met at the Filberg Summer Kitchen for lunch—it is SO beautiful there, lovely setting and the food was excellent, service great, highly recommend it to locals and visitors alike. Home made soup, scones and chicken Caesar wraps—delicious!
