The rice lacked flavor, and the beans reminded me of canned ones from El Paso. My wife's enchilada sauce was similarly disappointing. The salad was wilted, and the pork in the enchiladas was overly salty. Our meals were served lukewarm. The salsa was good, but the chips were broken and greasy. I truly love Mexican food, but this is not the place to find it.
What happened? We loved this place. The margaritas are weak and the food has gone downhill. Some classic dishes like the Botana are gone from the new menu. Looks like they're appealing to the bargain hunter. Why do people expect Mexican food to be cheap? Get the $2 taco. You can get this at Taco Bell.
The atmosphere was awesome and our waitress was really nice. But the lady that seated us was hovering at table over chatting with bus boy and giving me dirty looks while I ordered so much that it distracted me and I had to complain about how rude she was. She than disappeared into kitchen while our food was being made for a while. What was she doing in there after I called her out.... Last night felt like I had food poisoning. The meat was hard, and poor quality. We than got charged an extra $4.50 per taco/enchilada for the steak and had to complain because it was $10 more than menu said. They fixed the receipt but short changed us $5 on purpose when they brought change back, had to wait like 10 minutes for change while they kept messing with our bill. We will not be returning.
Surprise, surprise. Another great meal in Andale. Margarita is $2.22 on Tuesday ALL DAY! They were excellent. Mon thru Sat have a new happy hour of 3-6pm. All day Tuesday they have Taco Tuesday only $2.22. The menu is completely new. The Hog Wild Burrito bowl was excellent with bbq pork. Hand held Burrito with wet sauce is incredible. Huge in size. Waiter Josh said they just had new desserts on the menu, why not me. We had the tres leches that were great and melted in my mouth! We also tried the cheese warps with blows. That could be a meal. When looking over the menu, I notice trying many new dishes. I liked it before, but the owners take it to a new level.
EXCELLENT! My husband is a private cook he was blown away from the amazing food! Absolutely! Visit this place! Tony, the owner Marissa spent our server / the “food getter” time to explain any dish, etc. And there is now a happy hour 3-6PM!! OMG! We cannot give them enough praise for this institution (oh they serve beer, wine and mixed drinks... full bar margaritas, etc) 5 STARS!!
