Mayo's O'taste See - Colorado Springs

The best sweet potato cake I've ever tasted. Wonderful service, nice real people. I got the wings, Mac and cheese, and cabbage and it was absolutely phenomenal so tasteful and my bf got the cat's sandwich I was somehow upset I didn't that it smelled delicious!

4 stars because fried food is freshly cooked, so waiting is a little long, which unfortunately loses a star. Overall, it is a really good place to eat. I was a few times and ordered the cats and the chicken wings... very good. The fried cabbage is a must! It was so delicious. Prices are affordable. But if you're in a big hurry, I'd avoid lunch here... for again the waiting can be a little long and this is the biggest downfall. But it's worth waiting.

Family ownership/running. They are absolutely amazing and know what we like, remember us and always for a friendly conversation. The food is always delicious and I often recommend this place to others. My favorite is smeared pork chops, green beans and potato salad with a Thai tea. Happy dinner! You will not be disappointed!

The best food I've had in the springs!! Better than any of the many chain restaurants that seem to be over abundant in COS. Fish, ribs are excellent but it's all about the gumbo. Only on Friday! I haven't had anything bad yet. If you're looking for real soul/southern food, go to Mayo's, you will not be disappointed. Great food, great service and very reasonable prices.

I traveled all the way from Texas, home of BBQ, where I've had some of the best. This place is pretty good! First, the interior and ambiance are fantastic. Now, let’s talk about the food. I absolutely loved the brisket—it was the highlight of my meal. The coleslaw had a wonderful vinegar flavor that really set it apart from others. The beans were sweet and had a nice kick, while the pulled chicken was flavorful as well. I'm not a fan of collard greens, so I can’t speak to their quality. I also didn’t enjoy the fried items, like the fried mushrooms and okra—I found those to be less appealing. If the fried dough were less greasy, I would easily give this place a 5-star rating. They have a large selection of sauces which is great! If I find myself back in town, I would definitely come again.
