Oak Ray Flower Drum - Colombo

My family has been loyal customers of this restaurant since it opened in 1978. My father-in-law first visited the restaurant on its opening day and was later invited to special occasions by the owners due to his loyalty. We have been regularly ordering delivery from this restaurant for many years, including a delivery on November 19th. However, when we tried to order food recently, the manager, Mr. Kenneth, was very rude and refused to make the delivery without providing a reason. This was unexpected and disappointing. I would advise against visiting this restaurant in Sri Lanka.

The menu at this restaurant was extensive, but unfortunately, the food was of poor quality and not authentic Chinese. It was very disappointing, as there are much better Chinese restaurants in Colombo.

We had the worst meal ever at Flower Drum. The quality and standards have drastically declined. The barbecue pork ribs were deep fried in oil that had been used to fry fish, giving it a fishy taste and smell. The sweet and sour sauce was just watered-down tomato sauce and the fried rice was tasteless. The only decent part of the meal was the soup. Despite our disappointment, we didn't complain at the restaurant but asked the waiter to convey our feedback to the manager and chefs. The waiter did a good job. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to Oak Ray Flower Drum Restaurant again.

Returned to our favourite place after 5years and it’s still pretty good. Hot butter cuttlefish, sweet sour prawns are our usual and hits spot every time!
