El Papillo - Collioure

This was the first restaurant we ate in when we arrived in Collioure we had their special of John Dory. It was so good we decided to go back and you never know if that's going to be a mistake. We were glad we did and were not disappointed the second time

Crowded and popular - and for a good reason! Excellent food at a reasonable price. A fairly wide range of local wines. Friendly and welcoming.

This little restaurant has a big heart. There is just the one chef, who really knows what he is doing. Fine food, beautifully presented, and not too large portions. Price was comparable with other restaurants, but its intimate atmosphere was superior.

We chose this by chance and were blessed with good fortune. We chose a formulae meal for lunch. The salad was fresh and balanced , the Sole was divine with the warm lemon butter and the crime Catalan was a taste sensation.that with 50 Cl of Collioure rose and it was the best food, quality and value we have had in France in the last month.

We booked in advance which I'd recommend as it got busy. We were the first ones in at 7.30 but it quickly filled up. The waitress spoke good English but we tried our bestist French. The menu as earlier noted is small but offers fish, pièce dû boucherie, can't remember the others. But the menu had changed from the last review. We shared the charcuterie plate with cheese which was lovely. The mains were very nice indeed and the wine is excellent with choice and price. I'd recommend the cafe gourmand as dessert if it offers the tarte citron as it was incredible. OH loved his choice too. Would recommend to eat here.
