The Jalapeno Grill - Collinsville

I recently had a unique experience at a Mexican restaurant that I just have to share. Despite the odd circumstances of my visit, I highly recommend trying their catfish - it was light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. The spaghetti 3 way was also surprisingly perfect. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on these dishes!

The food was fantastic. We had lunch #1 Enchiladas with sides to choose from. You could choose beef, chicken, cheese or chili verde. Even the lunch menu filled us up. My mother and I went there on our girls day out. The place was clean, the hostessseated us in a comfortable booth. Harley, our server, was wonderful. Anyone learning food service (or any customer service)should follow Harley's example. He is a true credit to the establishment. He explained some things on the menu, let us sampletheir excellent yellow Queso, and was just in general friendly and attentive without hovering. Our meal with drinks came tounder $20.00 and we left an extra large tip. That young man earned it! We definitely want to go back again the next time we arein the area. Definitely recommend them!

Service was amazing, NO complaints there! But really disappointed in the food. The ground beef was grey and had no flavor. The fried ice cream is not fried. Just a scoop of ice cream rolled in corn flakes. Im just really sad. I was looking forward tosome good mexican. Sadly we will not return.

The restaurant has a pleasant Tex-Mex decor. Our server was extremely polite and attentive. When we mentioned that the salsa that came with our chips was not spicy (it was more like chopped vegetables), our server quickly brought us some AMAZING spicy salsa. Our food arrived in less than five minutes and was both delicious and reasonably priced.

I enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The cuisine seemed to lean more towards Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican. My favorite dish was the enchiladas with chili sauce.
