Taverna Viola - Cofanara I

We arrived just after 8:00 on Friday night after being unable to get a seat at the restaurant across the street without a reservation. We were the only ones there until we left at 9:30 which is not a good sign. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, but the food was not good. We ordered an insalata verde which was simply a bowl of iceberg lettuce. The bruschetta was fine and so was the complimentary eggplant appetizer the waiter brought but the pasta frutti di mare was the worst I’ve had. About half the clams and mussels were unopened and they did not taste fresh. It was not extremely expensive but entrée prices were slightly higher than most other places we’ve been but the food quality was much lower. It is unfortunate because it is a great location with beautiful view and close to our house, but we will not be going back.
