Fiction Bar Restaurant - Cleveland

Booked an outdoor table but they only advised us when we arrived that one wasn’t available so they placed us inside under a leaking/dripping air con unit. Waiter didn’t know what each of the mains courses included but he did find out for us. My husband was advised by the chef to order the lamb ‘medium rare’ which he did, but it was ‘well-done’. Food was very good overall and the waiter was very attentive though.

Very Loud. Poor Service. 6 People at the table for a Birthday Surprise all ordering a meal at the same time, 4 meals finally arrived and were eaten. No sign of my meal or the Birthday girls !!!! Apparently they had forgotten all about the remaining 2 meals!!! Got a discount but I didn’t get to eat anything. No snacks were offered to make up for their BAD mistake. Will never go back there again.

Recently went there for lunch mid week and was pleased with the service and the food. Returned on a Sunday with 6 friends and was disappointed. The lunchtime pasta was child sized and tasted like it came from a packet. 2 people had it and neither ate more than half. The salmon and hamburger were good. My fettuccine marinara was full of calamari even though I'd asked not to have calimari. The pasta was tough and too dry. Requested extra hot coffee but received lukewarm. The ordinary coffees were almost cold. One coffee never came. Staff were very attentive on arrival. After main meals were served and half the plates cleared away, we never saw wait staff again. We ended up going to coffee shop 4 doors down for dessert. Noise level was too high.

The food was excellent and the venue was lovely overlooking the harbour. The only down side was that it was difficult to get drink table service.

Some of our group were visiting for the first time, gave a favorable impression. Food good and it’s a popular place by the number of people there. Would go again. Drinks service was a little slow as was table clearance around us!
